New Year, New You?

Hey everyone! Happy belated happy new year to all. I hope the year has started to a good start for you all and your Christmas was delightful! I know we are almost at the end of the month and some of you have probably set yourselves some healthy lifestyle goals or maybe it's related to something completely different. I just want to just spend the time briefly to explain the importance of SMART goals, which will hopefully help you stick to those goals for the long term as opposed to the short.

                                                What are SMART goals?

  • S - The what, who, what?
  • M - How can I measure or record my progress?
  • A -  Is this something I can do right now?
  • R - How can I make changes to what I'm doing now?
  • T - how long am I going to give myself to do this and how often in a week?
It's easy to have the drive to be more active and eat more healthy, but without being SMART it's very hard to sustain these changes and we can find ourselves slipping back into our old habits.

What tips can help sustain these changes?

  • Keep it simple and relevant to you.

  • Make it enjoyable.

  • Dietary - make small changes to food you currently eat and enjoy.

  • Physical activity/Exercise -  Choose what you like and break the 30 minutes up if you're busy.

  • Remind yourself of the benefits of making this change and how it will make you feel.

And that's a wrap! Thanks for taking the time out to read my blog. I hope to share another interesting topic next month! Soph xx
